Sisterhood

"Because there is one thing stronger than magic: sisterhood." -Robin Benway

Sisterhood is the reason most people join a sorority. Young women are looking for those life-long friends who will be there for them no matter what. Our members are able to find just that in the thriving sisterhood we have at Tri Delta.

Pledge Moms and Pledge Daughters (Dots)

One way we help to foster that sisterhood is by providing a Pledge Mom to each new member. The new member then becomes the mom's Pledge Dot, or "dot." The Pledge Moms serve as sponsors for the newest members of our chapter all the way through their collegiate years and the bond they are able to form lasts far past their three years together. After our new members have received their bid cards, they will begin to meet members of the pledge class above them. Eventually, they will be matched with a Pledge Mom with whom they have made a connection. There is a week full of gifts from the Pledge Mom followed by a Mom/Dot reveal at the end of the week. This year, each Pledge Mom gave her Dot one sock in her gift basket and told her to find the matching sock at the reveal. New members were so excited to find out who was wearing their other sock.

Deltas Only Events

Another way chapter members get to know one another and continue to form that everlasting bond of sisterhood is through social events called Deltas Only. Our Membership Development Chairperson coordinates events like "SK80's" at the local roller skating rink, as well as chapter trips to Royals games and to the pumpkin patch. Other Deltas Only events include movie nights, craft nights and trips to Dairy Queen. These kinds of events are often some of our members' favorites.

"My sisters remind me, by their very steadfastness, that truth, beauty, and goodness exist in the world, and that no matter what, there are and always will be people loving people through thick and thin."
